I'm not entirely sure how to introduce albums any more, most
people usually die before they have to do this a 25th time,
but here we are. Two exciting things about 'Other', then:
1) you can download the whole thing this time (see link over
there), and 2) it's in stereo. Yes, stereo. I'm on the bleeding
edge here, people.
I never did stuff in stereo before because my speakers didn't
work, but now, inexplicably, they do, and Enough Rope enters
a brave new world. Anyway, the record, then. 2008 was a real
slow year, for various shitty reasons, and this album started
in September of that year. It follows on from 'A Trick' and,
in my opinion at least, improves on it. There are a couple
of sleepy, tuneful tracks in the shape of 'Limbs' and 'Under',
a quick, constantly changing one in 'You In?', some long,
kind of droning tracks ('No Nothing, Not Ever' and 'Can't'),
and a couple of bassline-led efforts ('Skulk' and 'Well, That
Attitude Isn't Helping Anybody').
It all hangs together fairly coherently, so I politely suggest,
unless you've got something better to do which you almost
certainly have, that you download
it. I'm still offering the full printed-out, CDs for free
thing, if anyone wants it, so drop me a line via the 'Communication'
link. The artwork on this occasion was done by me, since Tina
has literally run out of photographs and I bought myself a
new camera. Huzzah!
